Preferences

To view preferences, on the View menu, click Preferences.


The General Tab


Reload last project at startup When enabled, reloads the last project you had open.
Reload documents when opening project When enabled, opens all the documents you had open when you last worked on the project.
Automatically save project changes When enabled, automatically saves any changes you make to the structure of a project (i.e. renaming folders/files, rearranging folders/files).
Ask for confirmation when deleting files When enabled, asks for confirmation when deleting output files (in Output View).
Recycle preview windows When enabled, previews documents in the same internal browser preview window. When disabled, multiple preview windows are created.
Beep on validation errors When enabled, beeps when an error has been found in the file(s) you are validating.


The Editor Tab


Vertical scroll bar When enabled, displays the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the document window.
Horizontal scroll bar When enabled, displays the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the document window.
Selection Margin When enabled, displays the selection margin on the left side of the document window.
Show whitespace When enabled, displays whitespace between text as dots, and tabs as arrows.
Drag and drop text editing When enabled, allows drag and drop text editing within the document window.
Default drag action is move When enabled, the selection is moved when you drag it with the mouse. When disabled, the selection is copied when you drag it with the mouse. The Drag and drop text editing preference must be enabled for this preference to have an effect.
Tab size Allows you to enter a tab size.
Auto indent When enabled, starts the next line at the same initial position as the text on the previous line.


The Directories Tab


Projects directory Lists the default hard disk location for your projects. Click Browse to set a new location.
Output directory Lists the default hard disk location for your output files. Click Browse to set a new location.
Templates directory Lists the default hard disk location for your document templates. Click Browse to set a new location.


The Tools Tab


Autosave before running tools When enabled, saves the document you are validating before it is validated. Saves the document you are converting (with XSL) before it is converted. Saves the document you want to preview before it is previewed.
Jump to error on validation When enabled, scrolls the document you are validating up to where the error has been found.
Default output file extension Allows you to enter a default file extension for output files.
Converting a non-project file Allows you to select the default action when performing XSL conversion on XML files that do not belong to a project.

Creates a new document - opens the output file in a new document window.

Shows internal preview - displays the output file in the internal browser preview window.

Shows external preview - displays the output file in the external browser preview window.

Shows Save As dialogue - displays the Save As dialogue box, from which you can choose a folder in which to save the output file.
External browser Lists the hard disk location of your default browser. Click Browse to set a new default location.


The TagBar Tab


TagBar insert mode Allows you to select the default insert-mode of child elements when inserting elements from TagBar into a document.

Auto-insert children - inserts the child elements you have selected with Auto Insert via the context menu in TagBar, when you drag a parent element onto the document window.

Don't insert children - does not insert any child elements when you drag a parent element onto the document window.

Insert all children - inserts all child elements when you drag a parent element onto the document window.
Show data types in TagBar When enabled, displays XML-Data datatypes as declared in the loaded Schema in TagBar.


The Format Tab


Font Allows you to select a fixed-width font type.
Font size Allows you to select, or enter a font size.
Syntax item Allows you to select a syntax item to modify.
Text colour Allows you to select a colour for the syntax item from the drop drown colour palette.
Sample text Displays how text in the document will appear with the selected formatting preferences.
